What is BARF?
BARF stands for Biologically Appropriate Raw Food. This diet consists of feeding your dog raw foods, mimicking what their wild ancestors ate naturally.
Basic Ratios
The classic BARF model follows these proportions:
How Much to Feed?
As a general rule, an adult dog eats 2 to 3% of their body weight per day. A 20kg dog will eat between 400g and 600g of raw food daily.
Common Mistakes
1. Not respecting ratios: Too much meat without bones = calcium/phosphorus imbalance
2. Forgetting organs: Liver is ESSENTIAL (vitamin A, B12, iron)
3. Too fast transition: Gradually switch over 2-4 weeks
4. Ignoring variety: Alternate at least 3 protein sources
